Inspiration: This work represents the Titan Atlas, a mythological figure condemned to carry the weight of the world for eternity. The frail silhouette, at the bottom of the composition, supports a huge sphere that dominates the canvas. The contrast between the smallness of the man and the magnitude of the burden underlines the tragic condition of the character, prisoner of an infinite burden. In a dark palette, made of blues and greys, the artist conveys a melancholic and timeless atmosphere. The rough material and the sketched contours accentuate the dramatic tension, evoking as much the weight of myth as the universal weight of human trials.

Corinne Tichadou
France
Corinne Tichadou is a female painter working and living in Beziers, Southern France. Her painting is contemporary, figurative, mythological, biblical, allegorical and contemplative. It weaves links between the past and the present. Through mythology, tales, theatre, opera, biblical stories and her love for Italian Renaissance painting, she seeks timelessness as a philosophy. She paints the human being and questions it about its relationship to the world: to love, to family, to its courage, to its destiny, to its place in society.
