Joseph Lazaro practices a painting of letting go to try to find pieces of life in his creation, so that the painting surpasses him, so that it surprises him. Joseph tries to move away from thought and he trusts his hands to find a path, he does not imagine in thought, but in the literal sense, by creating the image that is revealed before him. In his work, he starts with an intention, he begins to paint and he waits for that moment when things begin to happen by themselves, the moment when, if he wants his painting to be good, he must simply do without projecting, renounce ideas and let speak that other thing that he cannot define, but whose existence he feels. Throughout his life, he has visited many museums and exhibitions and, deep down, it is not the subjects and concepts that interest him in the works, it is perceptual art, live art. The presence, the quality of a work of art, of music, this feeling of intimate connection with something deeper which recreates itself and enlightens us remains unfathomable and this is what nourishes him and what he seeks to transmit.
Joseph Lazaro
