Moon Chang Dawn is a Korean artist born in 1960, living and working in Paris since the late 1980s. Trained in sculpture at the University of Seoul, he continued his studies at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris until 1992. His artistic journey has led him from sculpture to painting, while maintaining a sculptural approach to space and matter. For over thirty years, Moon Chang Dawn has explored the notions of depth, space, and cosmic movement. His works, often produced in mixed media on canvas, incorporate motifs such as DNA double helices or bas-relief leaves, symbolizing the movement of the cosmos and spatial dimensions. He uses a variety of materials such as metal, acrylic resin, and medium-density fiberboard to create rich and dynamic textures. His creative process, mixing drips, sprays, burns and cools, evokes the formation of the universe, capturing moments after cosmic explosions, in a metaphor for the endless process of creation and disappearance.
