    Artist : Corinne Tichadou

Inspiration: This series of drawings painted on the pages of old political and literary annals by Corinne Tichadou was the subject of a book entitled Meditations. This work explores dazzling landscapes where the existing figures of the leaves can stand out, including mythological characters, allegorical scenes, angels and saints, circus or fantasy animals, wrestlers, mermaids, jars and vessels, flowers, Madonnas or nativities. Themes that are familiar in the artist’s work but which are manifested here in an instinctive and offbeat way, to show a singular and philosophical aesthetic landscape.

The color is contrasting, the line deliberately clumsy, but the composition remains dynamic and radical. In this process, Corinne Tichadou includes words, sentences, quotes that impact the image and participate in the creation of this universe that is at once poetic, dreamlike and humorous.
The characters and objects take them out of their context and are multiplied tenfold, respond to each other, interpose each other, creating new stories. All of these works combine the past and the present and read like a fugue, hence the importance of creating a book because it is indeed a fast, lively, interactive, timeless, universal reading that the artists wish to offer.
These images question our world, our society, our environment, our culture. They question our uncertainties, our fears, our struggles, our relationship to love or desire. In this sense, Les Médiations is an original, poetic project with an unavoidable cultural and universal scope.

     Corinne Tichadou

    France

Corinne Tichadou is a female painter working and living in Beziers, Southern France. Her painting is contemporary, figurative, mythological, biblical, allegorical and contemplative. It weaves links between the past and the present. Through mythology, tales, theatre, opera, biblical stories and her love for Italian Renaissance painting, she seeks timelessness as a philosophy. She paints the human being and questions it about its relationship to the world: to love, to family, to its courage, to its destiny, to its place in society.
