Inspiration: In this expressive work, Corinne Tichadou depicts a stylized, almost primitive turtle with raw contours and a clear shell, scratched with features suggesting texture and the wear and tear of time. The massive, frozen white form emerges from a deep, textured black background, creating a striking contrast between light and dark. The composition evokes the slowness, wisdom and permanence that are symbolic characteristics of the tortoise. The dark, almost mineral background intensifies the silent presence of the animal, as if frozen in a cave or a distant memory.
