Inspiration: With Les Jardins rêvés, Sylvie Peyneau lets the figure return, without ever quite fixing it. Black stems, traced with a nervous line, bear flowers that can be guessed at more than they are described: umbels, thistles, pink and mauve corollas half erased. The material, thick, scraped, taken up layer after layer, keeps the trace of the time spent on the canvas, like a herbarium whose colors have faded. These gardens are not observed; they are recomposed from memory, between the season that is ending and the one we imagine.

Sylvie Peyneau
France
Sylvie Peyneau, is a female painter and ceramist born in Bordeaux. In contact with nature from an early age, in a village between Bordeaux and the sea, she knew how to probe the soul of what surrounds her, to approach them as closely as possible to better reveal their vitality, to move away enough to paint their singularity, their poetry. It is with this just distance, through a subtle balance between figuration and abstraction, that she infuses her painting with the enthusiasm, energy and freedom that make them so powerful.
