    Designer: Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019) was one of the leading Italian designers, designers and critics of the twentieth century. A leading figure in the postmodern design movement, his work aims to break away from international modernism by taking an approach that is both decorative and critical. He was one of the founders of the Radical Design movement in the 1970s, along with Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi and Michele De Lucchi in Studio Alchimia. Mendini has won the Compasso d’Oro for design several times (1979; 1981; 2014), and in France, has been awarded the title of “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres”. His work can be found in the permanent collections of major museums around the world, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
