This desk illustrates the formal vocabulary of Georges Frydman, a figure of French modernist design in the 1950s and 1960s. The combination of light wood and blackened metal testifies to the influence of post-war functionalism, while asserting a sober and timeless elegance. The design of the top, asymmetrical and softened by its rounded corners, reflects the desire to combine ergonomics and aesthetics. A piece of furniture representative of modern office furniture, designed to meet the new uses of administrative and managerial work at the beginning of the Glorious Thirty.

His creations, emblematic of French modernist design, are now prized by collectors.
