Wabissime: New creations by Pierre Casenove for Galerie Oneofakind Toulouse
Until January 31, 2022, the ONEOFAKIND art gallery in Toulouse is receiving a brand new selection of exclusive ceramics by Pierre Casenove. Unique, raw and fascinating pieces that reveal the beauty of imperfection, simplicity and nature, and are part of the wabi-sabi trend. This Japanese aesthetic and spiritual concept celebrates the imperfect beauty of craftsmanship and nature in minimalist interiors that emphasize handmade objects with the patina of time.
This exhibition depicts the work of visual artist of Pierre Casenove, great specialist of “Grand Feu” enamels. Pierre Casenove uses wood-burning kilns (Anagama) and special electric kilns capable of reaching temperatures of more than 1300 °, temperature at which some rare and unique characteristics of the sandstone and the minerals composing the glazing appear.
The firing and glazing work is an extremely demanding process. It takes years of practice before being mastered. The material is capricious and sometimes unpredictable. It is a very long process, with a lot of losses, so that despite the expertise of the craftsmen, the result is still uncertain. Each firing can bring its share of roughness, debris, cracks, bubbles, unexpected color changes and other unacceptable defects.
Antoine Vignault also presents in this new setting the functional sculptures of Hoon Moreau and Clotilde Ancarani, the paintings ofStéphane Deligny and Béatrice Pontacq,as well as a selection of rare vintage furniture, patiently found and restored by the antique dealer and decorator Emmanuelle Vidal.
OΔK Toulouse gallery welcomes you by appointment only at 8 Allée Frédéric Mistral.
