Photographs by Thierry Genay In search of particular harmonies

Until October 26, 2024

For his second exhibition at the OAK Oneofakind Gallery, Thierry Genay unveils a work situated between thematic association and fortuitous encounter, between refined taxonomy and improbable telescoping. It is a question of building a singular harmony, a rebus or a story to be invented by the spectator.

Taking the opposite view of accumulation, it is a question of evoking an idea of the cabinet of curiosities in which the composition reduced to a few objects gives each one its singularity.

“Beautiful like a chance encounter on a dissecting table, a sewing machine and an umbrella.”

Comte de Lautréamont, Chants de Maldoror (Canto VI, stanza 1)

This exhibition inspired by cabinets of curiosities also highlights the ceramics of Catherine Blanc, the zoomorphic sculptures of Yves and Benjamin Pagart and the collector’s jewels of Gabriela Sismann among an exclusive selection of furniture by contemporary artists and pieces of design from the twentieth century.

This exhibition also allows us to see for a few weeks the Meditations of Corine Tichadou among a new selection of furniture by Hoon Moreau and Yves & Benjamin Pagart, the ceramics of Catherine Blanc, the lighting of Guy Bareff and Nicolas Aubagnac or Gabriela Sismann’s signature jewellery.

A décor enriched with seats, coffee tables and collectible lighting from the 70s by Emmanuelle Vidal, an antique dealer specialising in modern design.
