FIAT LUX: Photographs, artist's furniture and contemporary ceramics
From March 16 to May 16, 2022, galerie OAK / ONEOFAKIND presents the exhibition FIAT LUX. In his apartment-gallery in Toulouse, Antoine Vignault stages the geometrically shaped furniture and lighting of Nicolas Aubagnac alongside the contemporary ceramics of Pierre Casenove . The walls are dressed by a selection of photographs of remnants of the past captured by Ferrante Ferranti’s lens.
For the first time in Toulouse, Galerie OAK welcomes Nicolas Aubagnac , creator of furniture and lighting, and Ferrante Ferranti, travelling photographer and author of many books on the forgotten wonders of Italy. Two aesthetes passionate about Sacred Art, light and architecture whose work has already been rewarded many times. This exhibition also gives us the opportunity to rediscover the wonderful ceramics of Pierre Casenove whose fire reveals rare enamels and sensual forms.
• Nicolas Aubagnac : this interior designer first became known for his lighting creations. The PAD opened its doors in 2002, giving it a more international audience. Since then, his creations can be found in the most beautiful interiors around the world.
• Ferrante Ferranti: with the soul of an archaeologist, this trained architect combines his photographic work with his passion for antiquity and baroque. The photographer explores the vestiges of the past through the play of shadows and light created by the sun on the ruins.
• Pierre Casenove : demanding ceramist who creates unique, raw and fascinating pieces in his Japanese anagama oven. Trained at the Beaux-Arts and then in La Borne, a famous potters’ village in Berry, he was artistic director of Jars before devoting himself to his own studio in the Jura.
They call me universe and they call me dark
But whoever comes to me meets my stars,
And who sends me his eyes as one hoists sails
Will know from the past the dreams of the future.
Charles Baudelaire, 1835
Galerie OAK welcomes you by appointment only at 8 Allée Frédéric Mistral in Toulouse.
